Pastoralist Communication Initiative (PCI) PCI works with pastoralists across the Horn of Africa on new Knowledge and innovation. Based in Ethiopia and Kenya PCI connects pastoralists in the Horn with pastoralists all over the world and promotes an appreciation of the potential of pastoral economies and societies with official institutions, the media and the public. PCI has supported both the Pastoralist Assistance Group and EPAG Kenya with new knowledge on pastoralist development. It has encouraged EPAG to develop critical thinking in terms of our development approach and our grass roots accountability. PCI has also supported us to begin to link with other pastoralist groups in the Horn of Africa and to challenge approaches to development that undermine and victimise pastoralists. Patta Scott-Villiers works as a consultant to PCI and is also an EPAG UK Trustee. You can find out more about the work of PCI through our links page and their website www.pastoralists.org. The Pastoralist Communication Initiative PCI promotes dialogue and understanding between pastoralists and non-pastoralists. They focus on organising pastoralist gatherings and linking policy makers and key opinion leaders together with pastoralists as well as responding to pastoralists requests for research. PCI works in partnership with the customary leadership of more than 30 pastoralist groups in East Africa and connect with pastoralists in over 30 countries world wide. The PCI website provides current news and information about pastoralist events and gatherings and also has a range of accessible publications about pastoralism. |
