Luneburg Conference
Luneburg Conference, European awareness of sustainability in Africa: Issues of Pastoralism, University of Lüneburg, Germany.
ACTED, The Agency for Technical Co-operation and Development, in partnership with the University of Lüneburg (Germany) organized a conference on the Karamoja region in Uganda, on October 24/25.
The conference, entitled “European awareness of Sustainability in Africa: Issues of Pastoralism”, was part of a European campaign of awareness-raising on development. The conference was attended by academic experts and representatives from non-government organizations, who cam together to discuss the development challenges facing pastoralist societies in Karamoja region and East Africa. The three key issues raised were:
- Issues of sustainable development in Karamoja
- Pastoralism across East Africa
- International perspective on pastoralism and sustainability
